I'm struggling to find the best practice article which explains what VMware suggest in terms of Windows Server Patching for Windows machines where vCenter (or its DB) is running from.
In my particular case I have vCenter app installed on a Windows Server 2012 whilst its DB is on a different machine. What's the best practice to patch them both?
In the past the app server has been patched normally and it would always come back up, but I'm not sure whether that was the right way to do it. Also, with the fact of having the DB on a different machine now, can I just go ahead and patch the server where the DB runs from or shall I perform any other action on the app server prior start patching?
