I am having a problem with a VM that is running on an ESX cluster that it will not vmotion to any other server. When I try to migrate the machine it turns off, and then when I power it back up, it always goes back to its original host. I tried powering it off, migrating it while powered off, putting the original ESX server in maintenance mode and then powering it up but it will not boot. It is a windows server standard 64 bit server. On the console you can see the initial white bar at the bottom load but as soon as it should get to the windows 2003 splash screen, it powers off. In the VMWare.log file for the VM I get the following error message:
Mar 23 18:08:33.003: vcpu-1| MONITOR PANIC: vcpu-0:VMM64 fault 6: src=MONITOR rip=0xfffffffffc27a702 regs=0xfffffffffc008d70
A couple notes about the environment, 2 hosts are running ESX server 3.5.0, 143128. The other server (the one that has the trouble VM) is running ESX Server 3i, 3.5.0, 123629. I want to migrate the VM off so I can load it up with the same ESX version as the other two. This server it is running on has newer processors in it so initially I could not fail anything over to it or from it. I powered all of the VMs off and enabled VMware EVC for Intel Hosts and was able to migrate everything in the cluster fine except this one server. Any thoughts?
