Binding VMK to vDS portgroup

Hi guys,

I am trying to add iSCSI storage to ESXi. This is on vCenter 6 appliance and ESXi 6 hosts which have been upgraded from ESXi 5.5.  I have created 2 iSCSI portgroups in a vDS, Migrated the vmk from vSS to vDS (it was on different set of physical NICs in vSS). Configured 1:1 relationship between vmk and physical NIC. But i cant see the vmk when trying to bind it to a storage adapter. What am I missing here. I have done this numerous times before so I am pretty sure I doing this correctly. I have also checked using esxcli if there was anything bound to the vmhab - nothing. When I try to bind the vmhba, interestingly I am seeing the physical NIC that was previously attached to this vmk. I think there is a binding between the vmk and the physical nic. If so, how do I unbind it?

***Update***

If I move the vmk to a vSS or vDS which has the old physical NIC, I am able to bind the vmk to vmhba. So it seems like there is some binding between the vmk and the physical NIC. Anyone know how to unbind them?
