I have 4 hosts, all connected to a central iSCSI storage system. When I try to remove a snapshot from a VM, its only snapshot, it goes to 95% and then sits there. This prevents me from being able to vmotion the host. Any ideas?

Invalid credentials for newly added user
I'm running a freshly installed vCenter Server 6.5 embedded on a new ESXi host. There's no problem logging into vCenter SSO with the default administrator-user. However, I've tried adding a new user but I'm simply not allowed to login with it, I've added it to all the administrator-groups in vCenter too for the sake of testing. It's in the same local domain as the administrator "@vsphere.local" (which I'm using to login as well) and for simplicity I've even given them the same password. It's not joined to any AD or such, just local users. But all I get is "Invalid credentials" when I try to use it.
I've tried everything I can imagine, is there something else I might have missed? Are there logs anywhere I can check for what's actually wrong?
I could add images etc, but adding a user and logging in shouldn't be rocket science, setting up everything else has not been a problem.

vSphere 6 standard - sso
The admin walked out the door and I have no access other than RDP into the server and use my windows login.
Any advice on how to promote to have the sso role. My backup server cant login remotely to run back ups.
I used to be able to run the client from my desktop and login using my admin account. But now I can only run the client from the actual server.
Any advice or documentation to help me get this function back?

Error when trying to add an identity source
"Check the network settings and make sure you have network access to the identity source."
Backstory:
I opened a ticket with vmware support on 1/31/2020 because "something" was logging into 4 out of 6 esxi hosts in my DR cluster, and it was failing. The error is "Cannot login administrator@vsphere.local@(IP of our DR Veeam NAS repository)", and happens every 2 to 3 minutes.
I opened a ticket with Veeam; they can't find the issue. Opened a ticket with vmware; they can't find the issue.
In the meantime, something *else* went wrong on the 20th; my DR cluster (the one getting the failed login attempts) lost all its permissions except for administrator@vsphere.local. Yet the production VCSA has all it's permissions in tact. So if I log in as myself, I *only* see the production datacenter; if I log in as administrator@vsphere.local, I see both production and DR datacenters.
Current Story:
And now, the subject of this post: now when we try to add an identity source, the get the error "Check the network settings and make sure you have network access to the identity source."
BUT: when I putty into both the VCSAs, I can ping all our domain controllers, all the esxi hosts, and the other vcsa. No issues; no dropped packets.
Doesn't matter what version of identity source we try to add (AD, AD over LDAP, LDAP), we get the same error.
- We've upgraded both VCSAs to the latest (6.7.0.42100), with no changes.
- Both VCSAs are joined to our domain.
- The SSO domain is NOT the same name as our domain.
It seems like the answer is going to be soooo simple...but nobody seems to be able to find it.
Any ideas? Or hints?

I think i'm exactly in that case : VMware Knowledge Base
so I disable TSO and GSO as explained on both PSC (source and replicat embedded previously converged)
But know, how can I restart the process ? should I restore backup ?
Another question, since the first converge succeed I haven't yet decommission it, I expect to do that after full convergence, but doesn't know the best practice.

migrate storage fails with 'cannot connect to host'
I'm trying to migrate the storage of a virtual machine to a different datastore. (on the same san)
When I start the job I see the task :
Relocating virtual machine / Status 'In Progress'
After 10 minutes I get 2 popups :

Cannot connect to host.
-
OK
-
I tried to move the storage from a different virtual machine, but I got the same error.
Also tried from a different vmhost (but same cluster) but also the same error.
When trying from a host in a different cluster It works without problems (same san/datastore used in the cluster where I got the errors)
There are no difference in the security profile on the hosts.
Any hints ?

Adding a secondary network interface to Ubuntu JEOS in ESXi
Hi everyone,
I was able to migrate a Ubuntu JEOS 32bit http server and get eth0 working : - ) Thank You!
I'm now trying to add a secondary NIC to that server. I have ESXi set up with 2 nics in each subnet. I added another virtual ethernet adapter to the VM.
Problem is, ESXi is assigning the MAC address from my primary nic, and wont assign the mac for the secondary nic?
Am i doing something wrong?

HA Agent disabled on Host in HA/DRS Cluster
I've just inserted an ESX3.5Up2 host into an existing HA/DRS cluster. In the Summary Tab of my VC host, I see this message:

Other than that there are no alarms or indications of issues. What does this mean and how can I solve it?

Failed to create a virtual machine on vCenter
Dear VMware engineer,
Recently, I failed to create the virtual machine and migrate the virtual machine on VCSA (6.7.0.42000), but I can create the virtual machine on ESXI. The error report is as follows:
Failed to Create a virtual machine:
PBM error occurred during PreCreateCheckCallback: Connection refused: The remote service is not running, OR is overloaded, OR a firewall is rejecting connections.
Failed to migrate virtual machine:
I have restarted vCenter Server Application three times, and the problem still exists. but I don't know how to restart the service.

vSphere 6 standard - sso
The admin walked out the door and I have no access other than RDP into the server and use my windows login.
Any advice on how to promote to have the sso role. My backup server cant login remotely to run back ups.
I used to be able to run the client from my desktop and login using my admin account. But now I can only run the client from the actual server.
Any advice or documentation to help me get this function back?

so I disable TSO and GSO as explained on both PSC (source and replicat embedded previously converged)
But know, how can I restart the process ? should I restore backup ?
Another question, since the first converge succeed I haven't yet decommission it, I expect to do that after full convergence, but doesn't know the best practice.

Vmdb error -14: Pipe connection has been broken
Every now and then, and sometimes server times a day the Virtual Infrastructure Client will exit on me with a message displaying "Connection lost to server. Application will now exit" (or similar, I am going from memory).
In the log files under C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temp\vpx the most recent log ends with "Vmdb error -14: Pipe connection has been broken".
Any knowledge on what this is?

When running VI Client 4 or 4 U1, on Vista SP1 x64, I get the following error message.

We are thinking about to upgrade our vSphere environment to the following version mix (from VMware site OK?!):
ESXi 5.5U3 (Upgrade to 6.5 is not possible due Storage)
vCSA 6.5
Does anybody have experience with this mix in an production environment?

VCSA 6 install error - Supplied name not valid
When installing a second vCenter I keep running into the errors:
1. Firstboot script execution error.
2. The supplied System Name vcenter-01.domain.local is not valid.
3. If the supplied system name is a FQDN, then make sure the DNS forward lookup results in at least one valid IP address in the system. If the supplied system name is an IP address, then it should be one of the valid IP address(es) in the system.
This is a second vCenter install I am working on. I installed a vCenter 6 appliance with the psc and vCenter in our DR creating creating the vsphere.local (we are installing new hardware and moving from 5.0) just fine. At our Prod site I am running the appliance iso using a newly setup esxi 6 u1 host. I join the SSO site and create a new site name or join the existing, I am using a dvgroup with a Ephemeral port on the dvSwitch. I have triple checked the DNS settings. There is a host and pointer record for the esxi 6 host and appliance, I can run a nslookup from multiple machines with no issues.
Any thoughts as I am stuck.
